Unmemorable

This song isnt all that melody, and the drums dont stand out at all, you could keep them at the same volume if they were more punchy.

I like the breakdown at 1:20.
The arpish melody you have going at about 2:45 is okay at first, but it just stopped going with the rest of the song throwing it off.
The melody at 3:30 is pretty good.
At 4:00 the plucks just seem random, dont get me wrong, it didnt sound out of tune, but there still wasnt any melody-like correspondance.
The gate at 5:30 is kinda spazy, which is actually good for that part, it just should have had more variation.

Overall this song was okay, the reason its just okay is because the song jumped around so much, I know that was your intention, but it makes the song unmemorable because you cant get 7 different beats stuck in your head, and for that matter not even one because there wasnt a whole lot of progression or catchy melodies.

5/10 - 3/5 - Keep working

Thanks for your input, although I guess you didn't understand what I meant by 7 parts (7 memories) I wasn't getting you to try to remember the beats, it's more of a feeling based song, but I guess that's alright. Again, thanks for your input ^^ .

Hmmmmmm,...

Definatley not hardstyle, no trace of that is. Definatley 8bit fo sho. Needs a harder kick, it is like you used a Parametric EQ and just turned all of the low frequencies down and the high frequencies up. Also, the synths sound like something from Pac-Man.

Drum beat altogether is not so good. The bassline seems to be good by itself, but the bass synth you used just isnt working. You should have kept the resonance. When an okay beat chimes in @ 1:00, the song was already almost over.

I think you are like me when I very first started (except I used Mu.Lab), you get bored with the song so you make it end to quickly. My songs went anwhere from 0:50 to 1:50. Now my longest song is around 4:30.

If the synths were loops, you should start trying to make your own melodies once you grasp the rest. Anyways, you may not like my rating, but I just went with my oppinion. Also, since I slaved over an average temperature keyboard (lolunfunnynerdyjokealertlol) to write you this review, could you check out my song "Blue Winter", I would very much appreciate it.

5/10 - 2/5 - Keep Going

P.S. How long have you been using FL Studio (or any program)?

BluGil responds:

The synths arent loops, I made the melodies myself.

Ive been using it for maybe a month or so. Thanks for the comment

Detuned?

The intro was kindof wierd, for better AND for worse. It also seems out of tune for some reason. Definatley not a desirable aspect. Good drum beat, good progression from there on out. Love it when the guitar comes in. It ends to abruptley though.

4/5 - 9/10 - I MAY be being a bit to generous with my rating.

Fr0zEnPh0eNiX responds:

I'm surprised you even came across this thing. If it sounds dated... that's because I released it in 2004. It was actually my first effort at making some sort of song.

Thanks for the generous rating though. It's much appreciated.

Good Song

It seems you used a good VSTi for the piano. But sometimes everything seemed offbeat, and it didn't harmonize well. But it recovered from it. Good polyphonics here. The breakdown/build-up/whatever around 0:30 was kindof wierd, but it got better.

Good Song.
4/5 - 8/10 - Needs something more, like another instrument. It felt empty, just can't quite put my finger on it.

Fr0zEnPh0eNiX responds:

I know what you mean, especially at the 30 second mark (approximately)... the transition can be a little harsh. Admittedly the original way it was felt too sudden, and I was experimenting on how to make the transition work and give that "change of scenery" feeling.

I think I get what you mean about the missing part of the puzzle... and I think that ultimately comes down to some sort of bass instrument. Toward the very very end you start to get a taste of it, but it's already too late.

I'll do some experimenting and likely just update the file as I go.

Thanks for the constructive feedback!

Good, a bit dry though

This is a good song, although there wasn't too much change throughout. The guitar was a bit to dry for my taste though. And the end faded to fast, other than that it was a great song. Fix the glitches and you get a 10 though.

5/5 - 9/10

Djihin responds:

Ah. I guess the reason it's a bit looped is that the original idea was for a type of darker heavy fighting music. Thanks for the review.

Reminds me of eclipse

Some parts are a little out of tune. It has good progression. The melody reminds me of a song called eclipse. It is pretty ambient. I am not positive if this is trance, but idk. I must say, I kept waiting for a beat or some bass to kick in, but it never did. Which is why I think this is more ambient than anything.

But I like it. Good job. 4/5 - 8/10

toshema responds:

Thanks !!!!!! I'm new to this and I have had big gaps of time inbetween the songs I did make. So you critique helps, and I wasn't sure what genre to put it in. At first I was going to put in ambient, oh well.

Edit, I forget to mention that I've never heard the song eclipse before is it good?

HOLY SHIT!!! Simply Amazing

I loved the synths, I know I heard some vanguard.
Everything is mixed well, it had perfect transitions.
The length was a plus. It was great overall.

5/5 - 10/10

Bracksta responds:

thanks so much man i worked my tail off on this one, lol

Good beat, Extremely repetative

The beat is pretty good. But this song should NOT have been so long due to how repetative it was. I dreaded the last half, because I knew that nothing was going to change. This would have been a little better if you had cut it in half.

Also, there was not much going on either.
2/5, 5/10

KingofTaurus responds:

I would fix that if i had the source to it still. lol. stupid computers.

Good, but nothing extraordinary

I really like it. Seriously, what program do you use?
I use Mu.Lab. Not that any of my songs were this good.
It really captures,... how can I put it,... an electronic ambience.

I do envy you, your first song was better than any of my songs.
I have made 12 songs. How the hell did you get a good song your
first try? It doesn't seem do-able unless you have used some
other program.

4/5. 7/10, Great Job!

SamuraiPikachu responds:

Well, to be honest this isn't my complete first time. I've used other programs, but have never posted the songs. Normally just played with them. Right now i'm using FL Studio 8.0, and am just messing around untill I get better. Thanks for the review. :D
